My path to psychiatry and psychoanalysis was shaped by the conviction in the value of an empathic ear. My experience in medical school showed me that a thoughtful clinician who listens can be an invaluable asset to the treatment team.
I pursued a career in which I could hone my ability to listen and provide the kind of compassionate care that is often lacking in one’s life or in their experiences navigating the medical system.
My clinical approach has been deeply informed not only by wonderful teachers throughout my career but also by my own experience in therapy and psychoanalysis. Through that work, I came to understand firsthand the importance of having an attentive clinician, someone able to listen closely, tolerate complexity, and remain engaged through difficult periods of change. Opening my private practice was motivated by a desire to offer the same kind of care that supported my own growth.
My approach integrates contemporary psychoanalytic thinking with evidence-based psychiatric care, attending not only to symptoms but also to meaning, relationships, and emotional patterns over time.
